TITAN delivers F1 cold storage in record time
Amid blistering summer heat, the need for cold drinks at the Austrian GP couldn’t have been greater. Enter TITAN and a whole fleet of delivery trucks…
The challenge
TITAN have been working with Red Bull for many years and are no strangers to providing cold storage solutions for the annual Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring. But our booking for the 2023 GP coincided with some severe summer heat and record ticket sales that indicated more than 300,000 people would attend.
We needed to get a fully functioning cold storage solution up and running for the duration of the GP weekend. Warm drinks as racing cars screeched past on the tarmac would be a disaster.
The solution
Red Bull are an excellent client to work with, and their own logistics team worked seamlessly alongside ours to figure out exactly how many cold storage containers would be needed – and by when. The magic number we settled on was 27 – a lucky number in F1 that has been used by Ayrton Senna, among others.
All we had to do now was arrange the collection of these 27 ArcticStore containers – which can chill to -40°C (-40°F) – from three different depots a week before the event.
The delivery
Thanks to a meticulous planning schedule, all 27 containers were delivered to the Spielberg F1 site on the agreed date. Our skilled team were able to get each of them into position across the site and ready for use in just seven hours.
Next came the loading up of hundreds of thousands of drinks, which was – mercifully – someone else’s job. We remained on standby to ensure all ArcticStores functioned smoothly for the next few days (they did), and then returned to collect once all guests had left.
The results
Thousands of happy motorsports fans got to enjoy an incredible weekend, with ready access to all the cold drinks they could possibly need. And every single can or bottle was kept at the perfect temperature in one of our ArcticStore containers.
